Field Trips!!

Hey parents...
Friday, I gave out permission slips for the Bishop Kelley tour. The kids will get 2 pieces of candy if they return them today or one piece, if they return it on Tuesday. Just a little incentive to get them back. We do not need drivers for this trip, as Bishop Kelley will send the bus.

We will, however, need drivers for the ropes course on October 15th. We will be leaving school at 7:30 a.m. and returning at approximately 4:00 p.m. Permission slips have not yet gone out for this, but I wanted to give plenty of warning so we can find enough drivers.

Thanks to all of you that are driving to the ballet. We appreciate all of your efforts to give your time to our school and students.

Mrs. K.

Week of August 11th

Monday, August 11th

It's the first day of school and I hope everybody had a great summer. It was fun to see so many of you Friday morning.

8th grade - plan on taking a placement test today. We will use this to split you into 3 different groups. This means smaller classes will give you more teacher attention and the potential to go farther into the curriculum.

6th and 7th grade - Today we will go over the basics and answer any questions you might have.

Tuesday, August 12th

All class will be taking a basic skills test today, this will probably take two days. We are taking this so I can see what you know for sure and what we need to look at first. If everybody has mastered a skill....we won't spend much, if any, time on it.

Wednesday, August 13th

Finish test

Thursday, August 14th

8th grade - Today and tomorrow we will complete a project about buying a car. Please try to bring car ads from the paper with you to school this week. We will also have the internet available.

7th grade - Today and tomorrow we will be creating a math poster that communicates an idea that represents math in the form of a poster.

6th grade - Today and tomorrow we will be viewing and creating our own math puzzles. These will be used in the future for bonus points from many students. The more creative the better and the more difficult (but not impossible) the better.

Feel free to post a comment on this blog. You can also set this up so that you will receive an e-mail alert of an alert on your cell phone whenever I post a new blog.

Have a great week!

Welcome back!!

Welcome back to all of our middle school students!

It is going to be a great year and I look forward to seeing you on Monday.

We have some great changes for this year. You'll hear more about those the first week of school.

I now have a colorful room....yea, kind of like Mrs. D's......

Special thanks go out to Kelly Hull, Dillon Fowkes and Ryan Sedlacek for sorking so hard in my classroom this summer to re-paint my classroom. It looks great guys - you did a great job.

That's all for now....see you Monday!
